My Approach
For me, movement and Reiki are not separate paths. Both invite us to slow down, listen more closely, and reconnect with ourselves.
My intention is to create a supportive space where you can explore your body, discover new possibilities, and develop greater trust in your own experience.
There is always something more to discover.
Movement, Awareness & the Wisdom of the body
I'm Mandy Sau Yi Chan, founder of Breathing Heart Integrative Wellness & Fitness.
Movement has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Before I could fully express myself through words, movement was already a language I understood.
My journey began with dance and gradually expanded into a deeper exploration of the relationship between the body, mind, and our overall well-being.
Today, I bring together Somatic Movement, Pilates, Yoga, and Reiki to support people in reconnecting with their bodies through curiosity, awareness, and care.
My Journey
My professional journey began in dance, with training at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and an MFA from NYU Tisch School of the Arts.
For nearly two decades, I worked as a professional dancer and teacher. Dance taught me discipline, expression, and the possibilities of the human body.
Over time, my curiosity led me beyond movement as performance and toward movement as a way of listening, exploring, and understanding ourselves.
I continued my studies in Somatic Movement, Pilates, Yoga, holistic health counseling, and Reiki. Each practice offered a different perspective, yet they all led me toward the same understanding: the body carries an intelligence of its own.
Continuing to Learn
I believe meaningful change begins with awareness.
Rather than asking the body to perform or fit a particular ideal, I encourage curiosity about how we move, breathe, feel, and respond.
Sometimes our work focuses on strength and mobility. Other times, it may involve slowing down, releasing unnecessary effort, or simply noticing what is present.
There is no single approach that works for everyone. Each session is an opportunity to explore what your body needs in that moment, with patience, respect, and an open mind.
Bringing It All Together
My work has been shaped by years of movement, teaching, study, and personal exploration.
My training includes Dynamic Embodiment®, Somatic Movement Therapy, Pilates, Yoga, and Reiki. I am a Reiki Master Teacher and an ISMETA-registered Master Somatic Movement Therapist. I also served on the ISMETA Board from 2020 to 2023.
Yet I continue to see myself as a student.
The people I work with, the experiences we share, and the questions that arise all remind me that learning is an ongoing process.
